The Aluminum Dome is a self-supporting dome roof structure that is fully triangulated. It is connected to the tank shell only around the outer edge. The domes are made of high-strength Aluminum alloys that resist corrosion, chemical degradation, ultraviolet degradation, and ozone degradation.
